Math: Finishing up shapes this month and money.
Social Studies: American Symbols
Science: Wood, Earth Science-landform characteristics
Writing: We are using all our new words (he, are, the, can, she, said, play, I, see, to, went, like, a, and, go, love, have, here, for) to write stories of at least 3-4 sentences with spaces in between each word. Now I am asking students to write more interesting stories.
Homework: The homework for the last 2 weeks will be reading and writing. This a model you can use over the summer. Be sure you read aloud to your child and also give your child time to read independantly. For writing, use a 3 step method. Step#1 Write as many things as you can think of for your topic. Step#2 Read it to others and see if there are missing words or whole sentences you can add to make your story more clear or more interesting. Step #3 Look for capitals, periods and words that need to be fixed. These 3 steps should be done on different days and may take up to 20 mins. per step. And the last step is to decide whether to publish it or not. If you child chooses to publish it at school he/she may choose to use a computer or make a tradional book. I will do my best to get these published to the blog. Please feel free to add your comments to our "authors":)
