Learning Log for May

Upcoming Events:

May 6th- Mother's Day Party (1:00-1:30)
May 10th - Field Trip to Shipley Nature Center
May 12th-Awards Assembly
May 23rd - Book Fair starts in the Library
May 26th - Open House (6-7:15 pm)
May 30th- Memorial Day - NO SCHOOL


Reading: The comprehension skills we will be working on will be EVALUATE, PREDICT/INFER, MONITOR/CLARIFY. .
Please remember to read your little books EVERYNIGHT!

We will learn the sounds of the letters Uu, Jj, Th and Sh
We will also be learning more sight words this month (you, are, he, with). These are words we memorize and do not try to sound out. They are the most frequently used words in our language. We will bring home little books that have these words in them as well as words you can sound out. PLEASE WRITE THESE ON THE JUST READ LOG WHEN YOU READ THEM:)

Math: Measuring, Time, and Calendar

Science: Protecting our Planet, what are our natural resources.
Social Studies: American Symbols

Writing: We are using our new words she, said, play (I, see, to, went, like, a, and, go, love, have, here, for, said,play) to write stories of at least 3-4 sentences with spaces in between each word. We have a new journal with lines and a double sided page that will hopefully help our printing get a little neater and our stories longer and more interesting.
